PAED's visit- Ikram's Otitis Media
December 25th, after the Gambang visit, I noticed that fluid came out from Ikram's ears. I thought maybe the water got in when he was in the pool.
But after a day, the fluid keep coming out. OMG, I was beginning to panic. We brought him to the nearby clinic in Kuantan. The doctor said it was not because of water but it was an infection due to his pro-long flu. He started an antibiotic. Do you know how many antibiotics did he take for this year? Almost 10, ok.
December 27th, we decided to take him to our favourite PAED, she explained thoroughly. She asked to stop giving cow's milk and start on Isomil again (Soy based formula), because Ikram has the history of allergy to milk.
And, she explained that the fluid from his ear is starting to dry off but his eardrum is affected. Oh NO!
It will take at least 2 months for the eardrum to recover.
So we got another appointment for follow-up. Meanwhile we have to avoid water from getting in his ear to prevent loss of hearing.

The doctor had finally convinced us to start with the pneumococcal vaccine. I really regret not giving him much earlier like we did for Irfan. Irfan had his vaccine when he was 8 months old.
Why am I so stubborn and take things lightly?
Yesterday, December 29th, fluid still came out from his ear.
Today, December 30th, still the same.
The Cause : bacteria and often begins after a child has a sore throat, cold, or other upper respiratory infection.
The Prevention: i) Pneumococcal vaccine ii) not being around people who smoke and iii) not going to bed with a bottle.
